Comparison of multilocus RFLPs and PCR-base marker systems for genetic analysis of the silkworm, Bombyx mori
Article Abstract:
Multilocus RFLPs and three PCR-base marker systems for genetic analysis of the silkworm, Bombyx mori, were compared. Thirteen diverse strains were analyzed to compare the effectiveness of the methods in detecting genetic variation and determining the usefulness of each system based on technical and financial considerations.

Genetic mapping of Z chromosome and identification of W chromosome-specific markers in the silkworm, Bombyx mori
Article Abstract:
A genetic map of randomly amplified polymorphic DNA fragments, simple sequence repeats, and fluorescent intersimple sequence repeats markers for Z chromosome is constructed using a backcross mapping population. The economic and evolutionary significance of Z- and W-linked genes in silkworm is discussed.

Genetic characterization of the silkworm Bombyx mori by simple sequence repeat (SSR)-anchored PCR
Article Abstract:
Results show polymorphism among thirteen diverse strains of silkworm as revealed by Inter simple sequence repeat anchored PCR analysis. Data indicate that the strains can be classified into two distict groups, diapausing and nondiapausing strains.
