Computational definition of sequence motifs governing constitutive exon splicing
Article Abstract:
The frequency of 8-mers in internal noncoding exons versus unspliced pseudo exons and 5' untranslated regions were compared to search for sequence motifs that contribute to the recognition of human pre-mRNA splice sites. The families comprising 2069 putative exonic enhancers and 974 putative exonic silencers were classified and the results suggest that sequences that influence splicing may be very abundant in pre-mRNA.

A simple principle to explain the evolution of pre-mRNA splicing
Article Abstract:
The process of intron removal (or pre-mRNA splicing), which requires percise definition of the intron boundaries is observed. These observations offer a surprisingly simple rationale for the concerned evolution of splicing signals and transacting factors and have important implications for understanding alternative splicing regulations.

Imprinting mechanisms-it only takes two
Article Abstract:
Multiple imprinted mRNA genes are contained in imprinted gene clusters and also, contain atleast one imprinted noncoding RNA (ncRNA). Two imprinted ncRNAs were shown to act as cis-acting domain silencers, revealing that RNA-mediated silencing might be a central feature of genomic imprinting.
