Cse4p is a component of the core centromere of Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Article Abstract:
A study suggests that the Cse4p, a histone H3 variant, is a structural component on the core centromere of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The finding is based on chromatin immunoprecipitation experiments conducted on histone H4 and Cse4p mutants. The core centromere chromatin structure of the mutants is disrupted at restrictive temperature, and this defect is suppressed by the overexpression of Cse4p. Moreover, the Cse4p is specifically cross-linked to centromeric DNA and is found in discrete foci.

Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase-1 (PARP-1) is one of the most unique enzymes that scientists are always fascinated about, hence two roles of PARP in modulating chromatin structure are discussed. PARP is a protein, which after activation starts sprouting long chain polymeric ADP along with helping them grow on proteins in the vicinity.

B-boxes and TFIIIC are shown to limit the spread of heterochromatin at the silent mat region in the fission yeast genome. Studies reveal that the conservation of TFIIIC and B-boxes implies that the barrier function might span across species.
