Cyclodextrin-enhanced degradation of toluene and p-toluic acid by Pseudomonas putida
Article Abstract:
The presence of beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) enhances the degradation process of immiscible aromatic solvent, toluene, and a water-soluble aromatic compound, p-toluic acid by a strain of Pseudomonas putida. The substrate of phase toxicity is created due to the complications of toxic toluene to P. putida which is eliminated by degradation. A protective effect by beta-CD is possible by inhibiting the effect of p-toluic acid on P. putida.

Cyclodextrins as carriers of cholesterol and fatty acids in cultivation of mycoplasmas
Article Abstract:
The introduction of cyclodextrins (CD) as lipid, cholesterol and long-chain fatty acid carriers and as alternatives to serum or bovine serum albumin is discussed. Growth experiments were conducted to determine the effect of CD on Mycoplasma capricolum and Acholeplasma laidlawii. The potential of certain CDs as defined lipid carriers for several mycoplasmic cultivation was demonstrated.

Real-time PCR investigation of potential vectors, reservoirs, and shedding patterns of feline hemotropic mycoplasmas
Article Abstract:
Fleas, ticks, rodents and saliva from infected cats were investigated for the presence of hemotropic mycoplasmas to understand potential transmission routes for these agents. The results indicate that apart from an indirect transmission by fleas, direct transmission through saliva and feces could play a role in the epizootiology of feline hemotropic mycoplasmas.
