Cytosolic signaling protein Ecsit also localizes to mitochondria where it interacts with chaperone NDUFAF1 and functions in complex I assembly
Article Abstract:
A study to demonstrate the mitochondrial function for Ecsit (an evolutionary conserved signaling intermediate in Toll pathways) in the assembly of mitochondrial complex I (NADH: ubiquinone oxidoreductase) was conducted. The observation supports the function for Ecsit in the assembly or stability of mitochondrial complex I which possibly links assembly of oxidative phosphorylation complexes to inflammatory response and embryonic development.

Rearrangement of competing U2 RNA helices within the spliceosome promotes multiple steps in splicing
Article Abstract:
The splicing of nuclear pre-messenger RNA is dependent on the spliceosomal progression cycle of U2 stem helices- stem IIa and IIc elements of small RNA. The mutations inducing splicing defects reveal the presence of competing stem IIa in the first step of splicing.

U2 toggles iteratively between the stem IIa and stem IIc conformations to promote pre-mRNA splicing
Article Abstract:
The pre-mRNA splicing is promoted by binding of U2 snRNP to pre-mRNA. The U2 switches in between the stem IIa and stem IIc of RNA to impair the ligation of the two segments and facilitate splicing.
