DNA breaks are masked by multiple Rap1 binding in yeast: Implications for telomere capping and telomerase regulation
Article Abstract:
Various events occurring at the DNA brakes generated adjacent to the natural telomeric sequences (TG repeats) or the arrays of Rap-1-binding sites with varying length are examined to study the effect of the Rap1 binding on the brakes in yeast. The results of the analysis reveal the nature of the telomere cap and also explain the mechanism regulating telomerase access at the chromosome ends, as Rap1 binding is found to be very essential for end concealment at long tracts.

Pol 12, the B subunit of DNA polymerase alpha, functions in both telomere capping and length regulation
Article Abstract:
A genetic screen in yeast for mutants with relaxed telomere length regulation, and the identification of Pol12, the B subunit of the DNA polymerase alpha as a new factor involved in this process, is discussed. Also proposed is that Pol12, together with Stn1, plays a key role in linking telomerase action with the completion of lagging strand synthesis, and in a regulatory step required for telomere capping.

Increased association of telomerase with short telomerase in yeast
Article Abstract:
The short telomeres in Yeast are associated with enzyme telomerase in the S phase of cell cycle. This is regulated by the length of the TG tract.
