Development of procedures for direct extraction of Cryptosporidium DNA from water concentrates and for relief of PCR inhibitors
Article Abstract:
The comparison of the efficiencies of several commonly used DNA extraction methods for the extraction of PCR quality DNA using Cryptosporidium oocyst-seeded samples, DNA-spiked samples and field wastewater or storm water samples are presented. The effects of different PCR facilitators and treatments were also evaluated for the relief from or removal of inhibitors of PCR amplification.

Evaluation of affymetrix severe acute respiratory syndrome resequencing gene chips in characterization of the genomes of two strains of coronavirus infecting humans
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to evaluate severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) resequencing gene chips, developed to characterize the genomes of two strains of coronavirus infecting humans. It was observed that the SARS resequencing gene chips can be employed as an alternate tool to obtain genome sequences of SARS-coronavirus strains pathogenic for humans.
