Determination of Escherichia coli contamination with chromocult coliform agar showed a high level of discrimination efficiency for differing fecal pollution levels in tropical waters of kampala, Uganda
Article Abstract:
Results show that Chromocult coliform agar technique is efficient and feasible for detecting Escherichia coli contamination and determining fecal pollutions.

Integral strategy for evaluation of fecal indicator performance in bird-influenced saline inland waters
Article Abstract:
A new holistic approach is introduced to evaluate the relation between feces production and input of fecal indicator bacteria (FIB) into aquatic environments by wild waterfowl. The bird abundance, fecal pellet production and the abundance of FIB concomitantly with a set of environmental variables over a 9-month period are monitored.

Discrimination efficacy of fecal pollution detection in different aquatic habitats of a high-altitude tropical country, using presumptive coliforms, Escherichia coli, and Clostridium perfringens spores
Article Abstract:
The performance of rapid and practicable techniques that presumptively identify total coliforms (TC), fecal coliforms (FC), Escherichia coli, and Clostridium perfingens spores (CP) by testing them on a pollution gradient in differing aquatic habitats in a high-altitude tropical country was evaluated. Results indicate that rapid techniques for presumptive E. coli and determination may be reliable for fecal pollution monitoring in high-altitude tropical developing countries.
