Diversity and seasonal dynamics of Actinobacteria populations in four lakes in northeastern Germany
Article Abstract:
The phylogenetic diversity and seasonal dynamics of freshwater Actinobacteria populations in four different lakes of the Mecklenburg-Brandenburg Lake District (northeastern Germany) are investigated by using florescence in situ hybridization. The occurrence of widely distributed or lake-specific actinobacterial lineages is determined by phylogenetic comparison of cloned and sequenced 16S rRNA gene fragments.

Description of a "phoenix" phenomenon in the growth of Campylobacter jejuni at temperatures close to the minimum for growth
Article Abstract:
The authors have investigated Campylobacter jejuni cultures grown in broth at 39 degree Celsius. They report that these cultures have been subcultured into fresh medium at 30 degrees Celsius, which led to the unusual growth pattern when the transient period of growth has been followed by a decline in viable-cell numbers before the growth resumed again.
