mus304 encodes a novel DNA damage checkpoint protein required during Drosophila development
Article Abstract:
In Drosophila development mus304 encodes a novel, necessary DNA damage checkpoint protein. The damage checkpoint is in the developing eye. The mechanisms found in this research may relate to the group of symptoms seen in humans with mutations in the ATM tumor suppressor gene. The phenotypes seen in the research seem to reflect distinct developmental consequences of one underlying checkpoint defect.

Drosophila stem loop binding protein coordinates accumulation of mature histone mRNA with cell cycle progression
Article Abstract:
Drosophila stem loop binding protein has been found to coordinate accumulation of mature histone mRNA relative to cell cycle progression. The gene that encodes Drosophila stem-loop-binding protein (dSLBP) has been cloned to look at SLBP function genetically. A yeast three-hybrid method was used and mutations in dSLBP were found.

c(3)G encodes a Drosophila synaptonemal complex protein
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the meiotic mutant crossover suppressor on 3 of Gowen, c(3)G. The cloning of the c(3)G gene in Drosophila females has been carried out and the results indicate that it encodes the protein which is structurally similar to the synaptonemal complex proteins from yeast and in mammals.
