Dynamics of a pig slurry microbial community during anaerobic storage and management
Article Abstract:
The dynamics of a pig slurry microbial community throughout an intensive production installation is monitored in order to evaluate the impact of each waster management unit on the pig slurry microbial community. Fecal indicators are monitored by using cultural methods and the most prominent microbial populations observed by PCR-single-strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) analysis are identified by DNA sequence analysis.

Microbial communities involved in anaerobic degradation of unsaturated or saturated long-chain fatty acids
Article Abstract:
The combination of selective enrichment studies with molecular approaches were used to identify the anaerobic long-chain fatty acid (LCFA)-degrading bacteria. The results revealed different microorganisms belonging to the Syntrophomonadaceae family which were predominant in the oleate and palmitate enrichment cultures.
