EPISTACY: a SAS program for detecting two-locus epistatic interactions using genetic marker information
Article Abstract:
The EPISTACY computer program was developed by the SAS Institute to conduct all pairwise tests among any number of marker loci to detect epistatic interactions. Epistatic interactions between genes have a significant function in their phenotypic expression, in genotypic variation in populations and in response to natural and artificial selection. The program can be obtained for free from the SAS Institute. It runs both in Windows and Macintosh even though a technical problem is observed when run under Windows 95.

Production of aneuploid and diploid eggs by meiotic mutants of maize
Article Abstract:
The effects of mutation on female meiosis were studied using 11 mutants which were produced by crossing homozygous mutants as females with a diploid inbred line and an autotetraploid line. It was shown that chromosomal nondisjunction can be identified by aneuploid cells while failure in the first and second meiotic division can be identified by the diploid eggs. In addition, it was shown that there is a separate genetic control for megaspore mother cells and pollen mother cells.
