Effect of metabolites produced by Trichoderma harzianum biotypes and Agaricus bisporus on their respective growth radii in culture
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the biological activity of compounds determined by Trichoderma harzianum and Agaricus bisporus, and to analyze their possible association with green mold disease. Malt extract agar was overlaid with a sterilized cellophane membrane to evaluate the toxic effects of T. harzianum strain substances on A. bisporus. Results indicated that the occurrence of green mold disease correlated with the suppression of the fruit body production of A. bisporus.

Aflavinines and other antiinsectan metabolites from the ascostromata of Eupenicillium crustaceum and related species
Article Abstract:
Strains of Eupenicillium crustaceum and related fungal species produce aflavinines and antiinsectan metabolites from the ascostromata. The antiinsectan activity of E. crustaceum NRRL 3332 generate the aflavinine analogs 10,23-dihydro-24,25-dehydroaflavinine and 10,23,24,25-tetrahydro-24- hydroxyaflavinine. E. reticulisporum NRRL 3446 produces 10,23-dihydro-24,25-dehydroaflavinine and pyripyropene while E. molle NRRL 13062 produces aflavinines and macrophorins.

Simultaneous production and recovery of fumaric acid from immobilized Rhizopus oryzae with a rotary biofilm contactor and and adsorption column
Article Abstract:
The performance of the simultaneous fermentation and column adsorption system, using Rhizopus oryzae, in the production of fumaric acid is more favorable than that of the stirred-tank-CaCO3 or -Na2CO3 systems. The improvements include increased fumaric acid weight yield and volumetric productivity. Fumaric acid is recovered as free acid and the immobilized reactor or Rhizopus biofilm can be operated for long periods without loss of biological activity.
