Engineering of cyclodextrin glucanotransferase on the cell surface of Saccharomyces cerevisiae for improved cyclodextrin production
Article Abstract:
A study was carried out by setting up a novel system in which cyclodextrin glucanotransferase (CGTase) was anchored on the surface of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and was used as an immobilized enzyme. This surface-anchored CGTase gave the yeast the ability to directly utilize starch as a sole carbon source and the ability to produce the anticipated products cyclodextrinss (CDs), as well as glucose and maltose.

Short-term metabolome dynamics and carbon, electron, and ATP balances in chemostat-grown Saccharomyces cerevisiae CEN-PK 113-7D following a glucose pulse
Article Abstract:
The in vivo kinetics in Saccharomyces cerevisiae CEN.PK 113-7D is determined during a 300-second transient period after applying a glucose pulse to an aerobic, carbon-limited chemostat culture. The results have shown an increase in the anabolic flux, which is consistent with macroscopic balances of extracellular fluxes and the observed increase in CO2 evolution associated with nonfermentative metabolism.

Comparison of two alternative dominant selectable markers for wine yeast transformation
Article Abstract:
A comparative study of the usefulness of two alternative dominant selectable markers in both episom9ic and centromeric plasmids is presented. Both episomic and centromeric constructions carrying this marker resulted in transformation frequencies close to or above 10(super 3) transformants per mug of DNA for the three wine yeast strains tested.
