Enzymatic activation of lysine 2,3-aminomutase from Porphyromonas gingivalis
Article Abstract:
An engineered lysine 2,3-aminomutase from Porphyromonas gingivalis, capable of acting on other L-amino acids, can function as a robust biocatalyst, depending on an activation system to trigger catalysis. It is demonstrated that in the absence of chemical reductants, a reducing protein such as flavodoxin [NADP.sup.+] reductase (FPR), flavodoxin (FLD) or ferrodoxin (FD) can activate lysine-2,3-aminomutase.

Production of xylitol from D-xylose by a xylitol dehydrogenase gene-disrupted mutant of Candida tropicalis
Article Abstract:
Study is presented in which Ura-blasting method was used to sequentially disrupt two copies of the XYL2 gene encoding XDH in the diploid yeast Candida tropicalis. It is the first report on gene disruption of C. tropicalis for enhancing the efficiency of xylitol production.
