Sumo-mediated regulation of synaptonemal complex formation during meiosis
Article Abstract:
A link, in Saccharomyces cerevisiae between sumoylation and regulation of both synaptomenal complex (SC) assembly and propensity of SC proteins is displayed to form aggregates known as polycomplexes. This demonstrates that the protein engaged in commencement of SC formation, Zip3, is a small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) E3 ligase and their results imply that Zip1, a building block of yeast SC, binds to SUMO-conjugated proteins.

In a tight spot: ARE-mRNAs at processing bodies
Article Abstract:
A study describes the importance of cytoplasmic processing bodies (PBs) in regulating the decay of mRNA (micro-ribonucleic acid) which consists of an adenine/uridine-rich element (ARE). It was found that ARE promotes the translational silencing and polysome disassembly of the mRNAs.

Phosphorylation of RNA polymerase II CTD regulates H3 methylation in yeast
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on histone methylation. The functions of Set2 and the factors regulating its methylation site have been identified, and the results demonstrate that Set2 is associated with RNA polymerase II subunits.
