Ethylene production by Pseudomonas syringae pathovars in vitro and in planta
Article Abstract:
The Pseudomonas syringae pathovars pv. glycinea, pv. phaseolicola and pv. pisi produce significant amounts of ethylene in vitro and in planta. The strains show growth associated production of ethylene. The bean strains of P. syringae pv. phaseolicola and 17 other pathovars fail to produce ethylene. Two 22-bp oligonucleotide primers from the ethylene-forming enzyme gene of P. syringae pv. phaseolicola amplify a specific 0.99-kb fragment in all the strains, except the pv. pisi strain.

Ecological and genetic analysis of copper and streptomycin resistance in Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae
Article Abstract:
The characterization of strA and strB homologous sequences from the plasmid RSF1010 that persist in phytopathogenic bacteria is discussed. Plasmids from Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae were isolated and subjected to agarose gel electrophoresis, DNA restriction digests and Southern transfers. Streptomycin and copper resistance were evaluated. Results indicate the selection of antibiotic resistance genes in distinct phytopathogenic bacterial populations.

Evolution of the core genome of Pseudomonas syringae, a highly clonal, endemic plant pathogen
Article Abstract:
The evolution of the core genome of pseudomonas syringae, which is a highly clonal and endemic plant pathogen is studied using the multilocus sequencing typing (MLST) analysis. The genetic variation in Pseudomonas syringae indicates that the core genome is only weakly associated with the host of isolation and pathover designation.
