Evaluation of five membrane filtration methods for recovery of Cryptosporidium and Giardia isolates from water samples
Article Abstract:
The five member filters consisting of Pall Life Sciences Envirochek (EC) standard filtration, Envirochek high-volume (EC-HV) membrane filters, the Millipore flatbed membrane filter, Sartorius flatbed membrane filter (SMF) and Filta-Max (FM) depth filter were evaluated for studying their effectiveness in the recovery of Crytosporidium parvum oocysts and Giardia lamblia cysts. Results indicate that the Giardia lamblia cysts were recovered at a higher rate as compared to the Crytosporidium parvum oocysts.

Giardia cysts and cryptosporidium oocysts in membrane-filtered municipal wastewater used for irrigation
Article Abstract:
Giardia cyst and Cryptosporidium oocyst removal efficiency is evaluated in a wastewater tertiary treatment system based on membrane ultrafilteration and fed with secondary treated municipal wastewater. Feed water indicated presence of Giardia duodennalis and Cryptosporidium parvum but they were identified in filtered water only during occasional failure of filtration system.

Use of artificial neural networks to accurately identify Cryptosporidium oocyst and Giardia cyst images
Article Abstract:
The artificial neural networks (ANN) provides an automated means of identification and reduces human errors related to misidentification and is developed to identify Cryptosporidium oocyst and Giardia cyst images. The selected ANNs correctly identify 91.8 and 99.6% of the Cryptosporidium oocyst and Giardia cyst images respectively.
