Genetics of alpha-amanitin resistance in a natural population of Drosophila melanogaster
Article Abstract:
Genetics of alpha-amanitin resistance have been studied in a natural Drosophila melanogaster population. Data from mapping crosses of chromosome II indicate that a naturally occurring polymorphism in a multidrug resistance gene has a role. No amino acid differences between resistant and sensitive chromosomes are seen in the gene however. The underlying cause of any mutants' contributing to the difference would be a gene regulatory mutation.

Evolutionary interactions between Drosophila melanogaster and its parasitoid Asobara tabida
Article Abstract:
Drosophila melanogaster, its parasitoid Asobara tabida, and their evolutionary interactions are discussed. No evidence for local adaptation was found. Hosts from different replicates of partially inbred parasitoids performed no differently against parasitoids from the same and other replicates. No evidence was found for evolution of behavioral traits in the host capable of leading to lower chances of being attacked. Comparing the evolution of host resistance in these seminatural settings with that in artificial selection experiments gives insight into how conflicting selection pressures on host resistance interact.

Rapid response to artificial selection on flower size in Phlox
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on plants from the wild population of Phlox drummondii. The hypothesis that the quantitative characters evolve slowly allowing many generations to exhibit appreciable differences among populations has been tested via the study of bi-directional selection on corolla diameter of the plants from Phlox drummondii wild population, and the results are reported.
