Exploring the multiple facets of the meiotic recombinase Dmc1
Article Abstract:
The role of Dmc1 in meiotic recombination is mostly attributed to genetic studies as purified Dmc1 is found to be much weaker recombinase than Rad51 in the test tube. These observations reveal a high level of similitude between the Dmc1 and the Rad51 family of recombination enzymes in higher eukaryotes.

Evolution of global regulatory networks during a long-term experiment with 'Escherichia coli'
Article Abstract:
Evolution experiment performed in the laboratory where in Escherichia coli populations experienced transitions between growth and starvation everyday since 1988 is discussed. The study shows genetic parallelism, different mutations having beneficial effects and adaptability in environmental transitions.

Recombination in HIV and the evolution of drug resistance: for better or for worse?
Article Abstract:
The evolution of drug resistance being critically dependant on interaction of resistance mutations that determine viral fitness is argued upon. The findings show that recombination is expected to slow down the rate of evolution of multi-drug-resistant virus during therapy.
