In vitro alginate polymerization and the functional role of Alg8 in alginate production by Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the (14 super)C-labeled GDP-mannuronic acid, a substrate and subcellular fractions of alginate overproducing Pseudomonas aeruginosa FRD1 as a polymerase source, in the development of an enzymatic in vitro alginate polymerization assay. The results showed that a structural model of Alg8 was developed based on the structure of SpsA from Bacillus subtilis.

Ps1D is a secreted protein required for biofilm formation by Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Article Abstract:
The function of ps1D, which is part of the psl operon from Pseudomonas aeruginosa, is investigated. An isogenic marker-free ps1D deletion mutant of Psuedomonas aeruginosa PA01 that is deficient in the formation of differentiated biofilms is generated.
