Extragenic suppressors of mutations in the cytoplasmic C terminus of SEC63 define five genes in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Article Abstract:
Five sec63-101 suppressors were isolated to determine components involved in protein trafficking and the role of Sec63p in endoplasmic reticulum translocation and nuclear protein localization. Five complementation groups of mutations were identified and characterized, namely, son1-son5. son1 mutations's suppression of sec63 alleles was found to be characterized by regional specificity. In addition, son1 mutants were found to have slow growth and a partial nuclear antigen mislocalization. Son1 mutations eliminate Son1p function to suppress sec63-101.

Isolation and genetic analysis of extragenic suppressors of the hyper-deletion phenotype of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae hpr1 delta mutation
Article Abstract:
Experimental studies help isolate extragenic suppressors of the hyper-deletion phenotype of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae hpr1-delta mutation. This isolation helps examine the role of HPR1 protein in preventing deletions between DNA repeats in S. cerevisiae. Genetic analysis of five hyper-recombination suppression genes suggests the participation of Hpr1 genein DNA repair. Genetic data reveal that it is possible to separate the functions of the HPR1 protein in recombination repair and gene expression.

Isolation an characterization of extragenic suppressors of mutations in the SSA hsp70 genes of Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Article Abstract:
Three locithat were able to suppress SSA1 and SSA2 mutations resulting in temperature sensitive phenotypes were isolated. SSA1 and SSA2 are members of the SSA subfamily of yeast heat shock proteins, hsp70. The mutant loci which were able to suppress hsp70 mutations were designated EXA1, EXA2 and EXA3, for extragenicsuppressor hsp70 subfamily A. Characterization of these suppressors showed thatthey affect either the expression of SSA3 and SSA4 or the properties of their protein products.
