Fatness and overweight in women and children from riverine Amerindian communities of the Beni River (Bolivian Amazon)
Article Abstract:
The risk factors for overweight among Amerindian children and their mothers are analyzed using the data collected in 15 Amerindian riverside communities from the Beni River (Bolivia). It is found that body mass index is moderately related to anthropometric indices of body composition in children but highly correlated with fatness in mothers and the risk of overweight is not associated with environmental factors in children.

Why are human newborns so fat? Relationship between fatness and brain size at birth
Article Abstract:
A study conducted to understanding the relationship between fatness and brain size at birth, indicated that the circumference of the head is associated with body mass index (BMI) at birth. This holds good to the belief that newborn babies require more lipids, which acts as an energetic and plastic substrate during brain growth.

Physical activity at 9-12 months and fatness at 2 years of age
Article Abstract:
This article examines whether energy expenditure through physical activity and behavior in late infancy can be related to fatness in early childhood. Results show that late infancy activity relates to skinfold thickness in childhood, with certain behavior appearing to be more important in energy expenditure than others.
