Microbial diversity of cryptoendolithic communities from the McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica
Article Abstract:
The microbial biodiversity of two cryptoendolithic communities, dominated by cyanobacterium and lichen, is described. The 1,100 clones fell into 51 polytypes with relatedness of equal or more than98% rRNA sequence identity. Data indicate that polytypes are not shared between two classes of endolithic communities.

Phylogenetic and physiological diversity of microorganisms isolated from a deep greenland glacier ice core
Article Abstract:
Research describes isolation and classifying about 800 aerobic organisms based on morphology and ribosomal DNA restiriction analysis patterns. Phylogenetic analysis of the ribosomal DNA sequences show that the most abundant and diverse isolates exhibit high G+C gram-positive cluster.
