Functional analysis of fructosyl-amino acid oxidases of Aspergillus oryzae
Article Abstract:
The application of fungal fructosyl-amino acid oxidases (FAODs) in the clinical diagnosis of diabetes mellitus (35) is studied since the amounts of glycated proteins such as hemoglobin and albumin in blood reflect the level of blood glucose, and fructosyl-amino acids are model compounds for the glycated proteins. Findings of the study indicate that FAOD is needed for utilization of fructosyl-amino acids such as Fru-Val as nitrogen sources in Aspergillus oryzae and significant amounts of fructosyl-amino acids are found in nature.

Characterization of the inducible chlorophenol O-methyltransferase from Trichoderma longibrachiatum involved in the formation of chloroanisoles and determination of its role in cork taint of wines
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent methyltransferase which catalyzes chlorophenol and halogenated phenol O methylation. The authors have investigated the properties and purification of Trichoderma longibrachiatum's S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent methyltransferase, and they report that this enzyme is responsible for anisole formation on cork of wines.

A novel NAD-dependent dehydrogenase, highly specific for 1,5-anhydro-D-glucitol, from Trichoderma longibrachiatum strain 11-3
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on Trichoderma longibrachiatum strain 11-3. The authors demonstrate that NAD-dependent dehydrogenase which is highly specific for 1,5-anhydro-D-glucitol has been discovered in this strain, and that 1,5-anhydro-D-glucitol dehydrogenase is an enzyme useful for diagnosing diabetes mellitus.
