Genetic association of apolipoprotein E with age-related macular degeneration
Article Abstract:
It appears that the apolipoprotein E (apoE) gene (APOE) is a susceptibility gene for age-related macular degeneration (AMD). It has been found that apoE staining was consistently present in the disease-associated deposits in AMD-maculae. In 15 AMD and 10 control maculae apoE immunoreactivity has been studied. Researchers have undertaken a study to determine whether or not apoE is directly involved in the pathogenesis of AMD.

A critical appraisal of the scientific basis of commercial genomic profiles used to assess health risks and personalize health interventions
Article Abstract:
The scientific advantages of using predictive genetic profiling for providing personalized nutrition and health recommendations to the consumers are presented. The commercialization of genomic profiles is found to have no scientific significance for assessing health-risks or giving personalize health interventions to the patients.
