Genetic relationships between loci for palmitate contents in soybean mutants
Article Abstract:
Palmitate is a saturated fatty acid of soybean oil important for the production of plastic fat products. The genetic system of elevated palmitate in the mutant line, KK7 has not been determined. A study considered the sop2 allele in the mutant line J10 and any differences from fap2 and fap1, and the allele in KK7 and any differences from sop2, fap2 and fap1. Maternal effects for palmitate content were not seen in an analysis of F1 seeds from reciprocal crosses, indicating that the genotype of the embryo determined palmitate content, and not the genotype of the maternal plant.

Mapping the Fan locus controlling linolenic acid content in soybean oil
Article Abstract:
Soybean mutant C1640 has been developed with reduced linolenic acid content than standard soybean oil. The mutant's 18:3 content is controlled by the recessive fan allele. An attempt was made to integrate the Fan locus with the USDA/ISUsoybean genome map. The MapMakerQTL exhibited likelihood estimates for the most optimal linkage group for Fan that would benefit soybean breeders.

Genetic and linkage analysis of cleistogramy in soybean
Article Abstract:
Cleistogamy in soybean is investigated in terms of genetics and linkage, and was found to be associated with early flowering in the F2 and F3 populations.
