Genetic variation derived from natural gene flow between sympatric species in land snails (Mandarina)
Article Abstract:
Genetic variation coming from natural gene flow between sympatric land snail species (Mandarina) is discussed relative to a study in Japan. The study showed that an admixture of alleles can be produced by interspecific hybridization that is an important source of intraspecies genetic variation. Apparently distinctive sympatric forms can exist over long periods although significant gene flow exists between them and apparently 'frequency-dependent' hybridization in which a rare species in a given locale mates with individuals of the other sympatric species exists.

On methods of spatial analysis for genotyped individuals
Article Abstract:
This article describes a spatial autocorrelation methodology that uses join-count statistics, Moran's I statistics for use in population genetics and molecular ecology. The method enables the analysis of within-individual frequencies and spatial distribution of individuals. The point processes analyze simultaneously the spatial distribution of individuals and genotypes.
