Genomic diversity of Campylobacter coli and Campylobacter jejuini isolates recovered from free-range broiler farms and comparison with isolates of various origins
Article Abstract:
A study to characterize isolates collected from seven broiler farms by the use of molecular typing method to establish the source and route of contamination of the broilers at the farm level was made. The evidence of the recombination suggested that there were geonomic rearrangements within the Campylobacter populations and the recovery of related clusters from the different broiler farms showed that some Campylobacter strains may be specifically adapted.

Acidified litter benefits the intestinal flora balance of broiler chickens
Article Abstract:
The alterations in the balance of the normal intestinal bacterial flora of chickens exposed to acidified wood-derived litter are analyzed and compared to those of a control group exposed to nonacidified litter. The analysis shows that exposing the chickens to acidified litter lowers the intestinal bacterial number, especially in the ileum, without negative consequences for the chicken's health or performance.

Diversity and succession of the intestinal bacterial community of the maturing broiler chicken
Article Abstract:
The diversity of bacterial floras in the ilea and ceca of chickens that were fed a vegetarian corn-soy broiler diet of feed additives was examined. The ileum and cecum had significantly different library compositions, suggesting that each region developed its own unique bacterial community as the bird matured.
