Half-tetrad analysis in zebrafish: mapping the ros mutation and the centromere of Linkage Group I
Article Abstract:
The tetrad analysis technique, which is conventionally used to determine the genetic linkage in fungi, is used in the determination of genetic linkage in the zebrafish. The genetic linkage revealed that the recessive pigment pattern mutations rose (ros) is linked firmly to the centromere and another mutation leopard (leo) maps to 31cM from it centromere. Homozygous ros individuals among 32 homozygous leo half-tetrads are absent in the zebrafish. The analysis indicates that the ros and leo are linked to a mutation mapped previously to the linkage group I.

Genetic control of adult pigment stripe development in zebrafish
Article Abstract:
Examination of the three mutants of zebrafish, which exhibit defects in pigment pattern development, reveals that in adult zebrafish, development of separate populations of pigment cells requires spa+ and ros+ functions and assembly of melanocytes into stripes is regulated by leaf functions. The zebrafish has two different populations of stripe-forming melanocyte and distinct genetic regulatory mechanisms influence the development of these different subpopulation.

A study was conducted to examine the processes involved in fin regeneration in amputated fins of adult zebrafish. The investigation focused on the stages of wound healing, establishment of the wound epithelium, recruitment of the blastema for mesenchymal cells underlying the wound epithelium and on differentiatio and outgrowth of the regenerate tissue.
