Heterologous expression of the pneumococcal serotype 14 polysaccharide in Lactococcus lactis requires lactococcal epsABC regulatory genes
Article Abstract:
The pneumococcal serotype 14 polysaccharide is produced in Lactococcus lactis by coexpressing pneumococcal polysaccharide type 14-specific genes with the lactococcal regulatory and priming glucosyltransferase-encoding genes specific for B40 polysaccharide. The polysaccharide produced by Lactococcus is secreted in the medium, thereby simplifying downstream processing and polysaccharide isolation from culture broth.

Functional analysis of three plasmids from Lactobacillus plantarum
Article Abstract:
The nucleotide sequence analyses and characterization of the three plasmids from Lactobacillus plantarum WCFS1 are described. Cloning vectors were constructed based on the replicas of all three plasmids and out of this plasmid pWCFS103 was demonstrated to be a conjugative plasmid, as it could be transferred to L. plantarum NC8.
