Heterotrophic bacterial growth efficiency and community structure at different natural organic carbon concentrations
Article Abstract:
Results demonstrate that the bacterial growth efficiency, bacterial growth rate, and bacterial community composition are not affected by the concentration of natural organic carbon supplied in the form of dissolved organic matter simulating the conditions existing in most natural waters. However, oligotrophic environments may affect the above pattern.

Flavobacteria blooms in four eutrophic lakes: Linking population dynamics of freshwater bacterioplankton to resource availability
Article Abstract:
The diversity and dynamics of freshwater Flavobacteria populations in four eutrophic temperate lakes is being studied to demonstrate the effects of heterotrophic bacteria on the biogeochemical cycles. The results show that the resource availability of the bacteria highly affects the heterotrophic bacterial succession in eutrophic lakes.

Structure and function of bacterial communities emerging from different sources under identical conditions
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to compare two major hypotheses concerning the formation of bacterial community composition (BCC) from different sources under identical conditions. It was observed that the BCC was more strongly regulated by the history and distribution of taxa within the source communities, than by the environmental conditions.
