Histone H2A.Z regulates transcription and is partially redundant with nucleosome remodeling complexes
Article Abstract:
Histone H2A.Z has been found to regulate transcription and to be partially redundant with nucleosome remodeling complexes. Results of a study show a novel pathway for regulating transcription using variant histones to modulate chromatin structure. It was seen that deleting the gene encoding H2A.Z greatly increases the requirement for SNF/SWI and SAGA.

Histone acetyltransferase complexes stabilize SWI/SNF binding to promoter nucleosomes
Article Abstract:
Histone acetyltransferase complexes have been found to stabilize SWI/SNF binding to promoter nucleosomes. A purified system was used to analyze its retention, function, and distribution after recruitment by a sequence-specific transcription activator. A functional link was seen between HAT complexes and the SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complex.

Histone H3 methylation by Set2 directs deacetylation of coding regions by Rpd3S to suppress spurious intragenic transcription
Article Abstract:
A characterization of two distinct Rpd3 complexes, Rpd3L and Rpd3S by MudPIT was made as yeast Rpd3 histone deacetylase plays an important role at actively transcribed genes. The results indicate that Pol II-associated Set2 methyates H3 providing a transcriptional memory that signals for deacetylation of open reading frames by Rpd3S.
