Histone H2B monoubiquitination functions cooperatively with FACT to regulate elongation by RNA polymerase II
Article Abstract:
Histone H2B monoubiquitination is a mark associated with transcriptional activity. A study is presented which demonstrate that elongation by RNA polymerase II through the nucleosomal barrier is minimally dependent upon FACT and the recruitment of PAF and H2B monoubiquitination machinery.

Genome-wide dynamics of Htz1, a histone H2A variant that poises repressed/basal promoters for activation through histone loss
Article Abstract:
The genome-wide localization and dynamics of Htz1, the yeast histone H2A was determined. Htz1-bearing nucleosomes were deposited at repressed/basal promoters but facilitated activation through their susceptibility to loss, thereby helping to expose promoter DNA.

Mis16 and Mis18 are required for CENP-a loading and histone deacetylation at centromeres
Article Abstract:
Centromeres contain specialized chromatin that includes centromere-specific histone H3 variant, spCENP-A/Cnp1. The Identification of five fission yeast centromere proteins, Mis14-18, are discussed.
