Identification of an alternative 2,3-dihydroxybiphenyl 1,2-dioxygenase in Rhodococcus sp. strain RHA1 and cloning of the gene
Article Abstract:
EtbC is identified as an alternative 2,3-dihydroxybiphenyl 1,2-dioxygenase isoenzyme and is purified from a single Rhodococcus strain by using a bphC gene mutant. EtbC has a 58-amino-acid NH2-terminal sequence used for identification and cloning of the etbC gene.It has the broadest substrate specificity of any meta cleavage dioxygenase found in a Rhodococcus strain. There is a suggestion of role of BphC extradiol dioxygenases in the polychlorinated-biphenyl degradation activity of RHA1.

Flurophore-labeled primers improve the sensitivity, versatility, and normalization of denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis
Article Abstract:
The effect of fluorophore-labeled primers on denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) band migration, sensitivity and normalization was tested. It demonstrated that the fluorophone-labeled primers provide high sensitivity and increased versatility, since intralane standards improve DGGE fingerprint normalization within and between multiple gels.
