Idling by DNA ploymerase delta maintains a ligatable nick during lagging-strand DNA replication
Article Abstract:
It is reported that idling by polymerase (Pol) delta at a nick is an important mechanism for maintaining a ligatable nick during lagging-strand DNA replication. Experimental evidence indicating that a homeostatic control mechanism is hidden in the simple Pol delta/FEN1 machinery that maintains the machinery at the position of the nick such that extended and deleterious strand-displacement synthesis cannot readily take place is presented.

Replication checkpoint kinase Cds1 regulates Mus81 to preserve genome integrity during replication stress
Article Abstract:
Mus81 and Rhp51 are required for generating deletion mutations in fission yeast replication mutants that experience replication stress. A study provides novel insights into the way Cds1 regulates Mus81 accordingly when the cells experience different replication stress to preserve genome integrity.

The NAD(super+)-dependent Sir2p histone deacetylase is a negative regulator of chromosomal DNA replication
Article Abstract:
An experiment to understand the DNA replication, which occurs during S phase of each cell cycle, is conducted. It is concluded that Sir2p gene of silent information regulator (SIR) genes is required for heterochromatin formation and it negatively regulates DNA replication in the budding yeast.
