Incubation behavior and body mass of female greater snow geese
Article Abstract:
Incubating female Greater Snow Geese exhibit low nest attentiveness and resort to frequent recesses during which they fed intensively compared to other large geese. The recess duration and attention span varied during the incubation period. They depend more on food available in the breeding area and lose a smaller part of their initial mass during incubation. This seems to be necessitated by the lengthy migration to the high Arctic areas for which they require large quantities of stored reserves.

Genetic analyses of wild populations of Hawaiian Geese using DNA fingerprinting
Article Abstract:
A study employing DNA fingerprinting to assess genetic differences among 75 wild and 29 captive Nenes from Hawaii, Maui and Kauai islands revealed the genetic diversity among the wild birds to be less than that of the captive birds. Hawaiian Nenes displayed the least similarity coefficient levels, while birds from the island of Kauai had the highest levels of similarity coefficients.

Brain, eye, and skull growth in embryonic geese
Article Abstract:
Research is presented concerning the influence of brain growth on the development of the cranium in embryonic geese. The hypothesis that the proportions of the bill are directly controlled by brain growth is discussed.
