Individual color patches as multicomponent signals
Article Abstract:
Color patches known as complex traits, are usually treated as simple, two-dimensional characters but actually are complicated three-dimensional structures often contain multiple pigment types and structural features. The theory of multiple trait evolution and the mechanisms of color production in fishes, reptiles and amphibians are reviewed by using computer simulations and empirical examples.

A sigmoidal transcriptional response: cooperativity, synergy and dosage effects
Article Abstract:
A sigmoidal transcriptional response is believed to act as a molecular switch to control gene expression. Haploinsufficiency, recognized as the basis of many human diseases, is explored from the perspective of dosage effects.
