Polyphosphate stores enhance the ability of Vibrio cholerae to overcome environmental stresses in a low-phosphate environment
Article Abstract:
A Vibrio (V) cholerae mutant with a deletion in the polyphosphate kinase (ppk) gene, which was defective in polyphosphate biosynthesis, is constructed and characterized. The increased sensitivity shown by the mutant to environmental stressors in phosphate-limited medium revealed that polyphosphate protects V. cholerae from environmental stresses under phosphate limitation conditions.

Genomic and phenotypic diversity of coastal Vibrio cholerae strains is linked to environmental factors
Article Abstract:
Various metabolic profiles of environmental isolates from California coastal water and clinical strains are used to analyze the genomic and phenotypic diversity of Vibrio cholerae. These pathways are found to be linked to several environmental factors and might also influence the aquatic environments.
