Estimation of mitotic stability in conidial fungi: a theoretical framework
Article Abstract:
A model of nuclear genetic element transmission during conidiogenesis is presented which can be used to overcome problems associated with the quantification of mitotic stability in filamentous coencytic fungi. Using two distinct approaches, formulas for obtaining the predicted proportion of conidiospores containing the element are derived based on information regarding its mitotic stability and the number of generations of spore production. With this approach, accurate probability distributions regarding the number of conidiospores that retain the element in each phase of conidiopore development can be obtained.

Pollen fertility restoration by nuclear gene Fr in CMS bean: nuclear-directed alteration of a mitochondrial population
Article Abstract:
The pollen fertility is restored to cytoplasmic male sterile (CMS) common bean of the species Phaseolus vulgaris by two nuclear genes Fr and Fr2. The restoration is performed by a peculiar process, which involves the suppression of male sterility related to the mitochondrial sequence. The suppression is performed by Fr2 and the Fr supports this action till full fertility is achieved.

Comparative effects of pollen and seed migration on the cytonuclear structure of plant populations. II. Paternal cytoplasmic inheritance
Article Abstract:
The consequences of seed and pollen migration on the cytonuclear structure of plant populations governed by paternal cytoplasmic inheritance are presented. Two continent-island models have been analyzed.
