A luminal surveillance complex that selects misfolded glycoproteins for ER-associated degradation
Article Abstract:
ER lectin Yos9p along with KAr2p and Hrd3p forms a luminal surveillance complex that selects misfolded glycoproteins for ER-associated degradation (ERAD). The misfolded forms are recruited to the ERAD machinery by Yos9p/Kar2p/Hrd3p and thus contribute to the interrogation of substrate sugar status and prevent glycosylation-independent degradation.

Selective evolution of stromal mesenchyme with p53 loss in response to epithelial tumorigenesis
Article Abstract:
Tumor-suppressor gene mutations within the stroma in some human carcinomas are analyzed. The results showed that the interplay among multiple cell types select for aberrations nonautonomously during tumor progression, where the interaction imposes strong selective pressure yielding a highly proliferative mesenchyme that has undergone p53 loss.
