Irruptive migration of common redpolls
Article Abstract:
The phenomenon of irruptive migration of birds has been difficult to study, due to the unpredictability and large spatial scale of movements. The pattern of movements during the irruptive migration of redpolls has been studied based on data from the Project FeederWatch program. The aim was to examine the temporal dynamics of irruptive migration. Irruptive migration of redpolls is not a form of population level nomadism and does not follow patterns linked with range expansion.

Influence of vegetal moisture content and nest fate on timing of female Sage Grouse migration
Article Abstract:
The migration of Sage Grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) depends on the moisture content of the vegetation, vegetal cover, elevation and proximity of seasonal habits. The grouse is mainly found in and adjacent to cultivated alfalfa. The birds initiate summer migration when the moisture content reaches the threshold value of 60%. The decrease in vegetal moisture is a major cause of migrations. The timing of plant desiccation varies annually with precipitation.
