Is an activator protein-2-like transcription factor involved in regulating gene expression during nitrogen limitation in fungi
Article Abstract:
Analysis of the upstream sequences of all published lignin peroxidase and manganese peroxidase genes from Phanerochaete chrysosporium showed the presence of a consensus sequence correspondig to the activator protein-2 (AP-2) recognition sequence. The AP-2 binding sequence is located immediately upstream of the TATA box and was also detected in upstream sequences of genes encoding isozymes other than H8-related isozymes. It is proposed that the AP-2-like factor is involved in regulating genes that directly respond to nitrogen limitation.

Regulated system for heterologous gene expression in Penicillium chrysogenum
Article Abstract:
The control of encoding sequences by the repressible acid phosphatase gene promoter of the filamentous fungi Penicillium chrysogenum gives the heterologous gene expression of a recombinant fungal xylanase gene. Bioassays, zymogramography and Western blotting detect secreted recombinant proteins in the transformed P. chrysogenum. The amount of recombinant proteins and transcription levels vary among the transformed fungus due to differences in copy number and integration site of the expression vector on the fungal chromosome.

xylP promoter-based expression system and its use for antisense downregulation of the Penicillium chrysogenum nitrogen regulator NRE
Article Abstract:
The xylP fungal promoter from Penicillium chrysogenum is 65 times more efficient than the pcbC promoter in Penicillium and 23 times more efficient than the niaD promoter in Aspergillus. It was used to downregulate the nre nitrogen regulator of Penicillium chrysogenum.
