Isolation and characterization of Campylobacter jejuni subsp. jejuni from macaroni penguins (Eudyptes chrysolophus) in the subantarctic region
Article Abstract:
Researchers report the first known isolation of Campylobacter jejuni subsp. jejuni in the Antarctic region. Three macaroni penguins on Bird Island in the South Georgian archipelago were infected with the bacterium and the strains were similar to those found in the Northern hemisphere. It is not clear how the bacterium was introduced into this remote area.

Evidence that certain clones of Campylobacter jejuni persist during successive broiler flock rotations
Article Abstract:
Seven out of 12 broiler chicken farms in Denmark had clones of Campylobacter jejuni that had persisted through four flock rotations for up to six months. Almost half the isolates were fla type (1/1), which exceeds the prevalence found in other studies.

Comparison of genotypes and serotypes of Campylobacter jejuni isolated from Danish wild mammals and birds and from broiler flocks and humans
Article Abstract:
Wild mammals and birds do not appear to be sources of Campylobacter jejuni infection in chickens and humans. This was the conclusion of researchers who analyzed serotype distributions, fla types, and macrorestriction profiles of C. jejuni isolates from different sources.
