Isolation of Pseudomonas picketti strains that degrade 2,4,6-trichlorophenoland their dechlorination of chlorophenols
Article Abstract:
Strains of Pseudomonas picketti capable of degrading trichlorophenols were isolated and their dechlorinating abilities were analyzed. One strain, P. picketti strain DTP0602, was noted to be also capable of degrading other chlorophenols. Results show that cells dechlorinate compounds by removing a chlorine atom at position 4 to yield the corresponding hydroquinone in an oxygen-requiring process. This process is stimulated by chlorophenols and repressed by glucose or succinate. Findings also suggest that two enzyme systems involved in hydroxylation of the phenol ring are present in strain DTP0602.

Evaluation of culture techniques for isolation of Pseudomonas pseudomallei from soil
Article Abstract:
An evaluation of the ability of three enrichment broths and four isolation agar media in supporting the growth of Pseudomonas pseudomallei is discussed. Inexpensive methods applicable to large scale epidemiological field work surveys were used to facilitate the recognition and maximum recovery of the saprophyte in simulated positive soil. It was found that the use of a selectiveenrichment broth and a differential selective medium is required for the soil'soptimal recovery.

Growth of Pseudomonas mendocina on Fe(III) (hydr)oxides
Article Abstract:
Pseudomonas mendocina was able to release iron from goethite, ferrihydrite, and hematite under aerobic conditions. These minerals are the most common source of iron in soils.
