Kin-structured subpopulations in Eurasian perch (Perca fluviatilis L.)
Article Abstract:
Kin-structured subpopulations have been seen in Eurasian perch (Perca fluviatilis L.). Gene frequencies of five microsatellite loci were used to investigate the genetic substructuring of populations from different sites from one lake and as outgroups perch from 3 other lakes. Whether or not homing behavior of subadults to spawning sites of parents occurs was studied as was wether or not philopatric behavior of adults brings significant population genetic substructuring. Two major genetically distinct populations in one lake were seen. In either of the two, no further genetic substructuring or evidence of inbreeding was seen. Perch may have kin preferences and kin recognition.

Genetic diversity in peripheral and subcentral populations of Corrigiola litoralis L. (Illecebraceae)
Article Abstract:
The article discusses the effects of population size and country on genetic diversity in the herb Corrigiola litoralis (C. litoralis) that grows on river banks. Low allozyme variability in C. litoralis as a result of inbreeding is discussed.
