Linear mitochondrial plasmids of Fusarium oxysporum contain genes with sequence similarity to genes encoding a reverse transcriptase from Neurospora spp
Article Abstract:
The amino acid sequences of the mitochondrial plasmids of isolate 777 of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. conglutinans and isolate 699 of F. oxysporum f. sp. raphani are similar to the reverse transcriptase of the Mauriceville and Varkud plasmids of Neurospora spp. The plasmids are randomly dispersed among isolates of the species and can be transmitted independently of the mitochondrial chromosome.

Detection of Salmonella strains and Escherichia coli O157:H7 in feces of small ruminants and their isolation with various media
Article Abstract:
Salmonella and Escherichia coli O157 is detected in a limited number of small ruminants in Virginia by the use of conventional enzyme immunoassay (EIA) enrichment and detection. The combination of Salmonella enzyme immunoassay (EIA) detection and xylose-lysine-deoxycholate agar isolation is satisfactory.

Genetic rearrangements of the regions adjacent to genes encoding heat-labile enterotoxins (eltAB) of enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli strains
Article Abstract:
The genetic structure of the eltAB gene on the enterotoxigenic E. coli plasmid is described. This plasmid carries genes that produce toxins, making enterotoxigenic E. coli one of the principle causes of diarrhea in developing countries.
