Identification and disruption of an Arabidopsis zinc finger gene controlling seed germination
Article Abstract:
The Arabidopsis DAG1 gene, which encodes a zinc finger transcription factor of the Dof family, has been shown to be involved in control of seed germination. A mutant line with one T-DNA insertion in DAG1 has been isolated. The effect of the mutation is maternal. Seeds from homozygous knockout dag1-1 plants do not develop dormancy without light. They will germinate in total darkness. In situ mRNA hybridizations show DAG1 expression in the vascular tissue in flowers and maturing fruit, not in the seed.

SCARECROW is involved in positioning the stem cell niche in the Arabidopsis root meristem
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on stem cells. The authors report that the Arobidopsis root meristem has stem cell population depending on cells' central group, quiescent center, which positions the stem cell niche and regulates stem cell fate.

Maintenance of genomic imprinting at the Arabidopsis medea locus requires zygotic DDM1 activity
Article Abstract:
Maintenance of genomic imprinting at the Arabidopsis medea locus has been shown to require zygotic DDM1 activity, but DDM1 is not needed for establishment of the imprint at the mea locus. Transcription of the mea locus is regulated by genomic imprinting. A modifier gene needed to maintain the imprint in seed development was identified.
