Microautoradiographic study of Rhodocyclus-related polyphosphate-accumulating bacteria in full-scale enhanced biological phosphorus removal plants
Article Abstract:
The ecophysiology of uncultured Rhodocyclus-relatedpolyphosphate-accumulating organisms (PAO) present in three full-scale enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) activated sludge plants is analyzed by using microautoradiography combined with fluorescence in situ hybridization. The results indicate that Rhodocyclus-related PAO were able to denitrify and hence played a role in the denitrification occurring in full-scale EBPR plants.

Determination of cyanobacterial diversity during algal blooms in Daechung Reservoir, Korea, on the basis of cpcBA intergenic spacer region analysis
Article Abstract:
The intergenic spacer (IGS) region between phycocyanin subunit genes cpcB and cpcA (cpcBA IGS) is analyzed to study the diversity and community dynamics of cyanobacteria during cyanobacterial bloom in the Daechung Reservoir, Korea. The cyanobacterial diversity derived from the cpcBA IGS analysis is compared with that determined by 16S rRNA gene PCR-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE).
