Microsatellite variation in an introduced mouflon population
Article Abstract:
Chromosome microsatellites in the Eurasian wild sheep, Ovis gmelini, were analyzed. The population under study is an introduced mouflon population in the southern France. Genetic polymorphism at the population level was investigated by comparing primer conservation from cattle to O. gmelini. Results indicate a high degree of genetic variation in the mouflon population under investigation. This is attributed to the the different origins of the founding population.

Chromosome evolution of the Blue Sheep/Bharal
Article Abstract:
Chromosome number and G-banded karyotypes are reported from species of blue sheep. A male dwarf blue sheep and a male Subei blue sheep were studied, and the dwarf blue sheep was found to have a 2n = 54 and a karyotype with three biarmed formations resulting from acrocentric chromosome fusions. The Subei blue sheep had a 2n = 56, with just the 27p/1q and 29p/2q biarmed chromosome fusions.
